Manchester City boosted by new arrivals this week
Durban, Monday, 20 July 2009 – The 10th anniversary of the Vodacom Challenge will be further enriched this week with the arrival of three more superstars into the Manchester City camp ahead of the final at Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane on Saturday.
First team regular Nedum Onuoha will join his teammates in South Africa on Monday followed by new signing, striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who touches down on Tuesday following the completion of his transfer from English Premiership rivals Arsenal on Saturday.
The Togo international will jet in too late to take part in Tuesday’s match against Kaizer Chiefs at the Absa Stadium in Durban, but will be available for the final against the winner of Thursday’s Soweto Derby between Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Aside from Adebayor, Manchester City will also have the Brazilian superstar Robinho available for the final. He will link up with his team mates on Thursday and begin his preparations for the new English Premiership season, which starts on August 15.
The 2009 Vodacom Challenge got off to a sensational start on Saturday when Pirates beat The Citizens 2-0 in front of a celebratory 18 000 supporters at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
There is much anticipation ahead of the meeting between Chiefs and City in Durban, where tickets are selling fast. Tickets are available at Computicket, Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers-Hyper stores.
